OP-ED

Art does not end where the artwork does.

Some questions cannot be answered by looking at a painting alone.

Who gets to own a piece of history? What happens when cinema stops demanding our attention? Can a fictional character reshape the way an entire generation sees itself? And what does the way we preserve, consume, and remember art reveal about the world we live in?

Art is constantly in conversation with society—sometimes reflecting it, sometimes challenging it, and sometimes exposing what we would rather leave unquestioned.

Op-Ed is where we enter that conversation.

Through opinions, arguments, and reflections from our writers and contributors, we examine the artistic phenomena, cultural debates, ideas, and controversies that extend beyond the work itself. From the politics of museums and the changing language of cinema to representation, ownership, technology, and the cultural meaning we attach to art, this is a space to question what we think we already understand.

We aim to give you something worth thinking about. Because art can be decoded. But it can also be debated.
